VoD tips: Barbie is back!

You’d be forgiven for thinking you’d chosen the wrong film at the start. All you see is groups of girls playing with their dolls outside – no Barbies in sight. But minutes later, you meet the real deal, with Barbie (Margot Robbie) making her grand entrance. She doesn’t just live in a seemingly perfect world, Barbieland, she’s also got an admirer in the handsome, platinum-blonde Ken (Ryan Gosling). But their perfect world soon starts crumbling. The film’s director Greta Gerwig has done an incredible job of building a social satire around the legendary doll.

Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) and his colleague (Wi Jing) lead a team of researchers planning a risky dive that will lead them to barely chartered depths of the ocean. But the marine explorers aren’t alone on their daring mission. Gigantic prehistoric sharks soon emerge from the ocean’s darkest depths. A captivating action thriller with Jason Statham as the man of the hour.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) embarks on his seventh and most impossible mission yet. Together with his IMF team, he’s tasked with finding a novel weapon that could lead humanity to the brink of World War III. After «Top Gun: Maverick», we’re once again seeing Tom Cruise as the last major Hollywood star who, despite his age, still performs his own stunts.

After the death of her father Gus (Michael Constantine), Toula (played by the ever-enchanting Nia Vardalos) travels to Greece with her husband Ian (John Corbett) to fulfil her father’s final wish. And there’s still lots to learn about her family history in Dad’s hometown. Fans of this romantic comedy series will love the sequel. Everyone else ... will be heading straight to Greece

This comedy offers a new take on the classic dog film. When the slightly naive terrier Reggie is abandoned in the wild by his owner Doug (Will Forte), he finally realises that he’s on his own. Together with his newfound friends, the little dog sets out to get his revenge. A fun-loving adventure with lots of humour and heart, a great deal of creative direction and a fantastic cast.

Gameboys in «Gran Turismo» – in the VoD store from 31 October

 This action drama is based on the true story of Jann Mardenborough, a gamer in a car-racing game, who suddenly finds himself behind the wheel of a real racing car. In order to succeed, Jann is coached by Jack Salter (David Harbour) and supported by marketing expert Danny Moore (Orlando Bloom). It’s a well-known underdog story, but «District 9» director Neill Blomkamp still manages to put a fresh spin on it. This «Rocky on Wheels» trip provides a fun and exciting ride, but also plenty of drama and emotion.
