Dark, dark, Behemoth!
Behemoth are undoubtedly among the pioneers of blackened death metal. On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Poland's metal figurehead around frontman Adam "Nergal" Darski will be coming to Halle 622 in Zurich.
For 31 years, Behemoth have stood for an uncompromising attitude and resistance to social conventions. Under the leadership of Adam "Nergal" Darski, the band has not only established itself as a formative force in the extreme metal scene, but also as the epitome of rebellion, individuality and unwavering self-assertion. Behemoth's musical journey began in the Polish underground scene and quickly led to international fame. Their debut album, Sventevith (Storming Near the Baltic) from 1995, laid the foundations for a remarkable career. The big breakthrough came with the album Satanica, which marked the decisive transition to blackened death metal. Nergal's triumphant overcoming of a serious leukemia illness in 2010 and his return to music gave the band an additional dimension. A significant highlight following Nergal's recovery was undoubtedly 2014's The Satanist, widely regarded as one of the best metal albums of the decade. Their twelfth studio album Opvs Contra Natvram is another example of their relentless determination to fight social and cultural grievances. In this work, Nergal particularly criticizes the destructive tendencies of pop culture and social media. Powerful songs such as Post-God Nirvana and Versvs Christvs are sure to make every blackened death metal heart beat faster.
The two cult bands Satyricon and Rotting Christ will be there as special guests. Satyricon were founded in Norway in the early 90s and quickly established themselves as pioneers of the second black metal wave. Their debut album Dark Medieval Times is characterized by a unique blend of raw black metal and medieval sounds and is still considered a masterpiece among black metal fans today. Rotting Christ was founded in Athens in 1987 by the brothers Sakis and Themis Tolis and originally started out as a grindcore band. However, they quickly developed an unmistakable sound that combines black metal with Greek folklore and occult themes.
Look forward to an intense firework display of outstanding black metal anthems in Halle 622. Tickets are available via ticketcorner.
