We now have 2,800 dedicated employees from more than 80 different nationalities that are located at the Sunrise headquarters in Zurich and at additional office and retail locations across Switzerland. In addition, we are one of the leading providers of apprenticeships in Switzerland – we offer apprenticeships in six different specialisms and employ over 200 apprentices at the current time.
We employ a multi-brand strategy to address the specific needs of the premium segment with the Sunrise brand, of the smart-shopper segment with the yallo and Swype brands and of the budget segment with the licensed Lebara brand, which offers mobile services to price-conscious customers with a focus on international calling. We also attract younger customers with the Sunrise Young portfolio, offering reduced rates and other benefits to these customers.
Our mobile network connectivity (3G, 4G and 5G) covers substantially all of Switzerland, both geographically and by population. Our fixed network is used to deliver broadband, TV and fixed-line telephony services and consists of fibre, HFC or copper infrastructure.

Sunrise was initially formed in 2001 as Sunrise Communications Ltd, a Swiss corporation, through the merger of two companies, each founded in 1996: landline and mobile operator diAx and landline operator NewTelco Ltd. In February 2015, Sunrise became a Swiss public company listed on SIX. In November 2020, Liberty Global, through its Swiss subsidiary UPC, another Swiss telecommunications company, successfully completed the acquisition of Sunrise in the Sunrise–UPC transaction. Following this transaction, Sunrise became an indirectly wholly owned subsidiary of Liberty Global. The new corporate entity Sunrise UPC LLC was renamed Sunrise LLC in 2022. The telecommunications businesses of Sunrise and UPC have been completely merged, and the businesses integrated.
