How to get the most accurate test results

Even in ideal conditions, it’s difficult to reach the speeds that your Internet subscription offers. For example, if you have a subscription with 1 Gbit/s Internet, the test will not show this speed in reality. The result of your speed test is limited to your device you are running the test on (for example the network interface on your computer or smartphone, and/or the Wi-Fi standard built in your device).

Understanding your speed test results

Download speed

The download speed refers to the connection speed that is required to «get» the data. This includes typical services such as streaming (video & audio), downloading documents and regular Internet browsing.

Upload speed

Upload speed refers to the rate at which data can be transmitted from your device to the internet. It is an important metric for activities such as sending emails, uploading files, or streaming content.

Ping

Ping is a network utility that measures the round-trip time it takes for a packet of data to travel from one device to another and back. The lower your ping is, the faster your connection.

Bufferbloat

Bufferbloat is a phenomenon that can negatively impact you by causing high latency and lag. It occurs when excessive buffering in network devices leads to delays in data transmission, affecting the overall gaming experience.

Connect App: Check and optimise the Wi-Fi

You can use the Connect app to test the speed of your modem and Wi-Fi.

Download the Connect app from the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android).

To perform a home scan, make sure you’re connected to your home Wi-Fi.
Scroll down to «Home scan» on the «For you» screen and tap on «Start home scan».
Follow the instructions on the screen and check the results.

Note: the Connect App is only available to Connect Box 1, 2 and 3 / 3 Fiber.
