Two-factor-authentication (2FA)
What is two-factor-authentication?
Two-factor authentication is a security measure that verifies your identity in two steps. It is a combination of something you know (your password) and something you have (your smartphone or e-mail address).
In concrete terms, this means that with two-factor authentication, we send you a temporary code by SMS or e-mail every time you log into your customer account.
In this way, we ensure together that you are actually the person who logs in.
Why should I use two-factor authentication?
It protects against password theft (such as phishing) and thus prevents identity theft and possible financial losses as a result of misuse. Your My Sunrise account also contains sensitive data such as your address, telephone number or Netflix access data.
Two-factor authentication is currently the most secure login procedure. Nevertheless, 100% protection against identity theft or misuse cannot be guaranteed.
Therefore, never share your passwords or temporary codes with anyone.
Attention: The standard login procedure is not secure and is susceptible to misuse by third parties. You activate the standard login at your own risk. Sunrise accepts no liability for misuse by third parties.
The two-factor authentication will become mandatory for all our customers to protect against online threats. The transition will happen in stages, so it may be possible for you to disable two-factor authentication at the moment. However, this will no longer be possible in the near future, so we recommend that you start using two-factor authentication now.
Please note that the delivery may take a moment. If you did not receive the code, please check your input and ensure the following:
Sent via SMS: Check your Spam settings and make sure that you have not blocked Sunrise as a sender.
Sent via email: Check your spam folder.
No, the SMS will always be sent to the number you wish to log in with. Alternatively, if you log in with your mobile number, you can choose to have the code sent to your e-mail address.
The code for two-factor authentication is always sent to the e-mail address that you have saved in your account. You can change the e-mail address online in My Sunrise at any time. In order to receive e-mails for two-factor authentication, you must first confirm the new e-mail address.
