Change network name (SSID) and password

This guide will show you where you can find your Wi-Fi password and how you can change it.

Where is the Wi-Fi password?

Now connect your mobile device to the Wi-Fi network and start surfing at the highest speed. The necessary information (Wi-Fi name and password) can be found on the top and bottom of the Sunrise Internet Box 5G.

Or there’s an even simpler way:
iOS: Scan the QR code with your smartphone’s camera and open the link. Android: Please install a QR code app, use it to scan the QR code, and open the link.

Change Wi-Fi name and password

  1. You will find the Wi-Fi password (= security key) on a sticker on the underside of the Sunrise Internet Box 5G or on top of the box.

  2. After having successfully connected the Sunrise Internet Box 5G, please open the configuration page in your browser.

  3. Please enter http://192.168.8.1 into the address line.

  4. A login screen will appear. Choose the text box and enter your password.

  5. Choose Log In.

If this screen appears, choose an option, in this case, Enable And Continue.

If this screen does not appear, skip the next steps.

  1. Here you can change the network name and the password of your Sunrise Internet Box 5G.

  2. Under Wi-Fi name (SSID), enter the new network name.

  3. Under Wi-Fi password, enter a password.

  4. Choose Next.

  1. Here you must change the standard Admin password.

  2. Under New password, enter a new password.

  3. Choose Finish.

  1. You will see the web interface of Sunrise Internet Box 5G.

  2. Choose Wi-Fi Settings.

  1. Under Wi-Fi name (SSID), enter the new network name.

  2. Under Wi-Fi password, enter a new password.

  3. Choose Save.

The network name and password have been changed. Your Sunrise Internet Box 5G will restart automatically.

Reset Wi-Fi password

In order to reset the default password, a factory reset should be performed.

Note: A factory reset will restore all the settings to default, not only the password.

Restoration of the Sunrise Internet Box 5G can be done via the web interface.


  1. In the welcome menu of Sunrise Internet Box 5G, select Advanced > System > Reset > Reset > OK.

  2. To restore factory settings, you can also press and hold the RESET button on the bottom of the Sunrise Internet Box 5G using a pin.
