Great apes in «Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes» – available in the VoD store from 21 August

Many years have passed since the war of 2017, and the apes have established themselves as the planet’s reigning species. Caesar’s teachings are long forgotten – until a new ape tyrant attempts to build a new empire and a young primate stands in his way. – An intelligent continuation of the «Planet of the Apes» series that’s full of suspense, set after the three reboot films (of 2011, 2014 and 2017), but before the original series (of 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972 and 1973).

Big emotions in «Unsung Hero» – available in the VoD store from 22 August

Australian music promoter David Smallbone (portrayed by the real David Smallbone) goes bankrupt after investing in an unsuccessful major tour. Out of options, he moves to Nashville with his family for a fresh start. With the support of his wife and children, the Smallbone family tries to make it big in their new home as «For King & Country». – An sentimental drama about nearly «divine» providence with a consciously Christian tinge.

Anya Taylor-Joy in «Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga» – available in the VoD store from 29 August

«Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga» is a spin-off prequel featuring the character of the same name from the action hit «Mad Max: Fury Road» from 2015. Young Furiosa falls into the clutches of a biker gang led by warlord Dementus (Chris Hemsworth). As she grows older, Furiosa (Anya Taylor-Joy) becomes directly involved in the dispute between two tyrants over who rules the country. – Spectacular post-apocalyptic action adventure from founding father George Miller.

Spooky suspense in «Tarot» – available in the VoD store from 1 August

Never use a stranger’s cards for tarot games. A group of university students (including «Spider-Man» star Jacob Batalon) learns this lesson the hard way – and they find themselves terrorised by sinister figures. It’s the start of a race against time. – Not a reinvention of the genre, but a teen slasher film with some jump-scare moments that work surprisingly well.

Jella Haase in «Chantal im Märchenland» – available in the VoD store from 22 August

A dusty magic mirror transports wannabe influencer and makeup expert Chantal (Jella Haase) straight to the fantasy Middle Ages, where she meets marriage-mad princes, tyrannical kings and even a dragon. But the quick-witted ghetto princess Chantal knows how to defend herself in any situation – a spin-off comedy perfectly tailored to «Fack ju Göhte» fan-favourite Chantal, with Bora Dagtekin once again offering plenty of fast-paced pep and wit. Don’t miss out!
