Sunrise employees enjoy ski-racing thrills

Since 2022, Sunrise has been the main partner of Swiss-Ski at the World Cup races held in Switzerland, even hosting its own Lounges at the most prestigious races in Lauberhorn and Adelboden. These events are attended by thousands of ski fans, including many Sunrise employees.

Thanks to our Sunrise Moments loyalty programme, Sunrise customers can enjoy exclusive benefits like priority tickets, discounts on concert tickets, discounted ski day passes and access to the Sunrise starzone Lounge. And, depending on how many tickets are available, Sunrise can also sometimes make it possible for a small number of employees to attend selected events.

Switzerland’s largest freestyle ramp at Big Air Chur

The FIS Freeski & Snowboard World Cup has been taking place at Big Air Chur since 2021. On the largest freestyle ramp in Switzerland, athletes thrill spectators with breathtaking tricks and stunts. Gicele Silva Duarte Sa is a tech graduate at Sunrise and a huge snowboard fan, and that’s why she was really keen to attend Big Air Chur. She had the opportunity to take part in a backstage tour at the venue. «Standing at the top of the ramp where the athletes start their descents was an incredible experience. I realised just how high and imposing the ramp is and how brave the athletes must be to perform their stunts and push themselves to their limits.» Gicele was also impressed by the crowd and found herself caught up in the incredible atmosphere. «We all cheered for everyone, watched every move, reacted to every stunt and shared our enthusiasm with the athletes,» she says.

Cross-country skiing at Davos Nordic with elite athletes

Matteo Fergnani went to Davos Nordic, the International Cross-Country Skiing Days in Davos. What impressed him most about this competition was the technique and power the athletes displayed, as well as the fact that you could really feel the energy and tension in the air. It’s just not the same on the TV. Matteo adds: «I also had the chance to take part in an exclusive cross-country skiing lesson with a group led by a cross-country pro on the World Cup cross-country trail. Training on the same trails as the stars of cross-country skiing and warming up right alongside them was truly unforgettable.» The International Cross-Country Skiing Days have been taking place in Davos since 1972, and the event celebrated its 50th anniversary this year.

Flying the Swiss flag in the Sunrise Lounge in Adelboden

In January 2025, the traditional Audi FIS Ski World Cup took place at Chuenisbärgli for the 69th time. Nejla Sejmenovic attended the legendary ski event for the first time. «To be honest, I’ve never really been interested in races like these before and I haven’t followed them either. But since my visit to Adelboden, I’m totally hooked! I’ve even decided to take up skiing myself.» She says the second, all-important run was her personal highlight. «The adrenaline rush was incredible. The most dramatic moment came when Loïc Meillard was the last competitor and it looked like he was going to snatch first place from my personal favourite Marco Odermatt – anything could have happened. When it was obvious that Marco was going to win the race, I jumped for joy and waved the Swiss flag like crazy. By the way, I recommend that everyone who goes to a ski race takes a flag with them – it’s a great way to cheer on the athletes and revel in the excitement!»

At the Lauberhorn races with Marco Odermatt

The International Lauberhorn Races in Wengen are also known as the «Home of Legends». And this ski event, which has been held since 1930, is truly legendary. Benoit Hayman, Procurement Business Excellence Specialist at Sunrise, who was at Friday’s Super-G, agrees: «The history, the intensity of the races, the passion of the fans and, of course, the picturesque backdrop of the Bernese Oberland mountains are just some of the reasons why this event really is an unforgettable experience.» But things got even better for Benoit when he got to meet some of the athletes in the Sunrise Lounge. «Even though they really needed to rest and recover for the next race day, the athletes made a real effort to engage and connect with the fans. The most unforgettable moment was meeting Marco Odermatt, who still had a smile on his face despite a less-than-perfect race.»

Benoit also sees the Swiss-Ski partnership very positively. «As a Sunrise employee, it’s very special to be able to witness this partnership up close and in person.»
