For more than ten years, we’ve been supporting Swiss Post as a full-service provider, ensuring that delivery staff right across Switzerland have the best connections. Together, we deliver innovative solutions that simplify processes, speed up communication and make daily work easier.
Swiss Post uses two redundant SIP trunks for landline calls. Thanks to modern hardware and applications, supported by Sunrise Business, communication also takes place via Cisco Webex and Microsoft Teams. For mobile services, a bespoke solution for Swiss Post on the award-winning Sunrise mobile network is used. Swiss Post employees are connected in real time on 47,000 devices at all times. All major Swiss Post buildings are equipped with indoor coverage systems that ensure a stable voice connection and data transmission. Over 3,000 employees are equipped with tablets to enable real-time transactions and communication.
Swiss Post delivery staff use modern scanners to digitally capture registered letters, signatures, forwarding orders and changes of address. Communication takes place via the Sunrise mobile infrastructure. Thanks to the Swiss-wide Sunrise high-speed network, M2M communication can run in real time, even in remote areas. Around 26,000 scanners ensure that both Swiss Post’s central operations and its customers are always right up to date.
Swiss Post maintains close links with the general public and SMEs, with a physical presence in all regions of Switzerland. The basic service includes around 5,000 access points, including branches, self-service machines and the home delivery service. Of these, around 2,000 locations are served, with around 600 being operated as privately operated branches.
To connect these locations digitally, Sunrise was commissioned in 2017 to create a nationwide private WAN (Wide Area Network) for Swiss Post – one of the largest and most powerful private networks in Switzerland. Depending on the location, the connections have a bandwidth that varies between 10 MB and 10 GB.
Sunrise provides Swiss Post with additional data services and infrastructure such as fibre-optic lines, local Internet connections for branches with partners, and highly redundant lines to provide backup in case critical connections fail. In addition, Sunrise has set up an innovative extranet platform for Swiss Post that enables both parties to access all relevant data: for example, interaction with various departments for orders, the ticket status from technical support, e-billing, order status and lots of other features. This means Swiss Post and Sunrise can always maintain an overview, eliminating the need for cumbersome communication via email or even letters. This also helps to boost sustainability – a goal that’s top of the agenda for Swiss Post.
